Title: The Godborn

Review: The second book in The Sundering series, The Godborn does a good job of continuing the separate but loosely intertwined adventures of favorite Forgotten Realms characters. This installment follows the life and destiny of Vasen Cale, the son of Everis Cale, and the forces that are conspiring against him. Like The Champions, you don’t need to have read previous books to be able to jump in and follow the story, though I found it to be slightly more difficult to follow in the beginning. The narrations help to build the dark work in which Vasen and company live, though the author’s penchant for using a few vague descriptors (e.g. preternatural) lessened the impact of some of the descriptions.
I still have to say I recommend this to anyone with an interest in fantasy novels, and particularly those with even a passing interest in Forgotten Realms or the Dungeons & Dragons universe(s).
